APPRENTICES

So you've decided to become an apprentice, huh? Here's what you have to look forward to.

Those who agree to the apprenticeship are consenting to do what Mistress says no matter what. Tasks from the mundane to the overtly-sexual will be handed out, and an apprentice is expected to follow the order to the letter. It's a small price to pay when you're learning magic from the best, isn't it?

Day-to-day activities involve tidying up the castle, waiting on guests, and tending to the grounds. Anything one of Mistress's valued guests wants is to be provided for them, be it a blowjob, a three-course meal, or a swimming trip in the lake with your body serving as the raft. Failure to do what's expected of you will result in punishment from Mistress, and she is not a lenient woman. This sworn obedience extends to the castle guard, so anything they say is to be listened to with rapt attention. The guards have a habit for playing practical jokes on the apprentices, so don't be surprised if you find yourself plagued with bizarre love confession letters for weeks at a time.

Every month, there will be some larger project happening in the castle. These can range from caring for one of Mistress's magical pets to venturing out into the forest to slaughter an owlbear for an important dinner, and all of them will require multiple apprentices to complete. These goings-on will be posted in the OOC community each month, along with the weather and anything else of note.

But what of the upside to this? You were promised magic, weren't you? Well, studious apprentices who attend Mistress's daily lessons will be able to learn one spell every two weeks. These will start at a very low level -- light conjuring, moving small objects, making plants grow more quickly. The possibilities for spells are limitless, so feel free to use your imagination! However, if you would prefer a randomized spell from a moderator, you will be able to comment here and have one given to you.

Now, each basic spell will have five levels. Every two weeks, if you'd like, you may upgrade one spell instead of learning a new one. After that, further upgrades will require moderator approval, and will be given out through event participation, quest completion, or deity interaction.

Example:

Luke Skywalker has been an apprentice for two weeks. He learns pyrokinesis. Right now, he can control a candle flame, to make it longer or hotter as he sees fit.

After two weeks, his spell has been upgraded to level 2. He can extinguish flames with his spell, or make small flames larger.

Two more weeks, and he can pull increasingly flashy maneuvers with the flames he controls. Flames can dance from the wick of one candle to another, images can be created out of fire, and changing the temperature of a flame is child's play.

Two weeks more, and he can create small balls of flame between the palms of his hands. They dissipate quickly if thrown, but he would totally win any game of "I'm not touching you."

After his final two weeks, his pyrokinesis is at level 5, and he can start fires on other objects. Everyone hopes Luke will use his newfound powers for good.

If Luke would like to learn a fireball spell after this, to send fire hurtling at his enemies in a blaze of completely amazing glory, he would have to participate in an event and ask for moderator approval.

Of course, as many small spells can be learned as you wish, and you're free to get creative with the limits of each level. Tornadoes and earthquakes are not level one spells, but growing cat ears could be. We trust players to be reasonable about the limits of their characters' spells, but if you're unsure about anything, please ask a mod.
