Religion
In some worlds, gods and goddesses are things of myth, praised and loved, but never truly seen or heard. In this one, deities are very real, and if you're one to doubt it, they'll gladly come down to smack you in the face with their very tangible appendages.
So, surely, there are advantages to be had by pleasing these all-powerful figures. At any time, a character can become a member of a deity's religion. By doing their bidding, they will be able to earn money, power, and status. These gifts can range from regained abilities to new powers a character never possessed, and if they rise up high enough in the religion's ranks, they'll get some swanky perks. Tasks to complete for each religion will be posted at the start of the month, and rewards will be tracked using this post.
Information on all available deities can be found below. Some are kind, some are mischievous, and some are downright evil. If more than one strikes your character's fancy, they're free to worship whoever they like -- provided the gods themselves get along. Under each deity's relationship section, other deities are marked with a ✔ (in the left column) or an ✘ (in the right). If both the gods your character would like to worship are on good terms, they may serve both. If not, sorry! Choose one, or someone with a lot of power might get very angry.
To sign up as a follower of a deity, post under the appropriate thread below. That comment will serve as your marking place for all the tasks your character has completed in the name of their deity. An example comment thread has been posted for your convenience. Tasks will be posted each month for characters to complete, ranging from small favors to garner small rewards, to larger, more difficult tasks that will earn bigger ones.
In the event that you have any questions about a deity's quest or the religion mechanic, a questions thread is also available below.

ABOR ☆Elf god. God of twisting the truth, loopholes, self-righteousness, and archery. Arrogant demeanor. Collector of praise, reptiles, and statues.
bio ☆ The point of Abor's sharpest arrows will always find the hearts of the wicked. And anyone can be wicked, he insists. One only has to look deep enough. Unlawful acts must be punished, and those punishments must be harsh, for the good of the status quo. He is a tricky god, one who can find loopholes in any law or contract. The cunning and the charming are his most favored people. Abor welcomes law-abiding citizens who aim to keep things in order by any means necessary. His missions involve dirty work that may not technically be moral, but will most assuredly keep things the way they're meant to be.

BIRN ☆Dragon god. God of sneakiness, assassination, solitude, and lies. Volatile demeanor. Collector of wealth, bones, and magical scrolls.
bio ☆ Birn is not easy to find, but for that, you should be thankful. This temperamental god cares only for himself and the advancement of his own wealth. He promises those who do his bidding a share of his gain: money, power, every earthly desire you could imagine. All he asks in return is unquestioning loyalty. He gives the gift of silence, he rewards those who know how to take what they want, and practitioners of his religion are notoriously hard to convict with any crimes. But turn on him, and you will undoubtedly regret it. Birn welcomes ambitious people, rogues, and those who care not for laws or rules. His missions involve assassinations, stealth missions, and killing that often seems senseless, which he insists has "a greater purpose."

COSORS ☆Gnome goddess. Goddess of scholars, logic, and innermost thoughts. Reserved demeanor. Collector of books, anecdotes, and ink.
bio ☆ Cosors is said to be the inventor of libraries. Her followers feel most at home inside them, soaking in the knowledge they're provided with. This goddess has spent millennia scribbling down every fact and every opinion she's ever heard, in an attempt to collect a single unbiased truth. On those rare occasions when she's caught in mortal form, her hands are said to be stained with ink from all her writings. Thus, those who practice this religion wear black gloves in a show of solidarity. Cosors welcomes anyone who seeks truth. Her missions involve collecting knowledge, and never will she ask her followers to pick a side in any conflict.

FORTEVIUS ☆Dwarf god. God of combat, drink, and nonmagical power. Grumpy demeanor. Collector of warriors, furs, and good food.
bio ☆ Nine out of ten earthquakes are caused by Fortevius's hearty belching. It's true that he and his followers are often seen as gluttonous, but Fortevius insists that a good meal makes a good person. He favors brute force over enchantments and spells, though he does not begrudge followers for learning the art of magic. It is his firm belief that a person must take care of themselves, though boundaries are essential to ensure that the world is kept in order. Fortevius welcomes followers who aim to do good, even if their intentions may be misunderstood by some. His missions involve straightening up misunderstandings and ensuring that the lawful have bountiful lives.

GREILIA ☆Fairy goddess. Goddess of mischief, flora, tricks, and harmless secrets. Pleasant demeanor (subject to change at her whim). Collector of laughter, secrets, and anger.
bio ☆ You hear her voice in the whisper of wind through trees. You feel her skin when you touch the softest petals of a flower. You know her sting when you prick your finger on a thorn. She is a goddess with as much good humor in her as wrath. Greilia commands the fae of the world, and it is by her example that they learn how to trick and tease mortals. She is known to collect secrets, whispers; hidden bits of information that seem harmless, but when well-placed, can take down even kings. No one, mortal or immortal, is safe from her whims. For the most part, she seems to side with those of a good nature, but one can never be sure what a fairy goddess is truly thinking. Greilia welcomes pranksters, bards, and dreamers, or anyone else who sees the high value in fun. Her missions involve potion-making, playing tricks, and challenging the norm.

MARON-DITAR ☆Mer goddess. Goddess of adventure, the sea, self-serving morality, and history (self-appointed). Chipper demeanor. Collector of artifacts, jewels, and lovers.
bio ☆ Sailors tell tales of her. Those who have never been near water in their lives dream of her. Maron-ditar may well be a creature of legend, stories speaking of shimmering jewelry and bioluminescent spots that outshine the moon itself. It's said she rules over all the seas, and chronicles history by carving it into rocks deep under water where other living beings scarcely inhabit. The merfolk serve her, and it's said that those who go missing at sea are recruited as lovers and allies, helping Maron-ditar achieve her goal of learning all the landfolk's secrets. Maron-ditar welcomes all those who love adventure, be their intentions good or not. Her missions involve treasure hunts and daring quests, and she's known to welcome white lies if they help you tell a better story.

SITHRAK ☆Undead god. God of suffering, agony, and madness. Hateful demeanor (allegedly). Collector of the blind, the weary wandering, and lost souls.
bio ☆ Sithrak: The Blind Gibberer, the one who penned the Book of Dismay. He hates you no matter what you do, and only eternal torture awaits you after death. But that in itself is liberating, isn't it? You can't do anything too heinous, too self-serving, because the end result will be the same. The leaders of each temple of Sithrak hotly contest the god's true wishes, so the tasks their followers carry out range from door-to-door conversion attempts to cold-blooded murder. There is no judgment in Sithrak's religion, so there are no limits to what you may do. Reap the rewards before you die, because your afterlife certainly won't be a breeze. Sithrak welcomes anyone and everyone (coincidentally, that is also the amount of people he hates). His missions are varied, and it sometimes seems like nobody actually knows what this god stands for, but they tend to be much more chaotic than the missions of any other deity.

TENLAE ☆Shapeshifter goddess. Goddess of sex, war, and sexy war. Distant demeanor. Collector of revealing armor, wild animals, and confidence.
bio ☆ Known colloquially as the goddess of sex and war, Tenlae provides most favor to those who combine the two. She grants strength to those who call to her, no matter what other religion they may be following. Not born a deity, she was elevated after the Great Fucksaccre of Yore, considered by most scholars to be the largest, bloodiest orgy of all time. She was the sole survivor of the conflict after single-handedly taking down more than seventy percent of the warring army (and forty percent of her own) with nothing but her hands, breasts, and various orifices. Golden statues of her adorn many a temple, where scantily-clad warriors pray for her blessing before going into battle. Tenlae welcomes anyone who wears unrealistically slutty armor to battle, for she knows that a warrior's true spirit cannot be measured by their clothing. Her missions involve battling for the greater good (whatever you may consider that good to be), boundless sexual training, and attempted conversion of others to the religion.

VILI NETRUM ☆Human goddess. Goddess of law, order, good deeds, and charity. Hearty demeanor. Collector of happiness, love, and scales.
bio ☆ Legend has it that Vili Netrum was made into a deity when the world was young. She impressed the elder gods so with her valor and charity that they bestowed upon her their power. She resides not in one realm, but in several, seeking out followers to carry out her message of peace. From the lowliest commoner to the richest king, Vili Netrum believes that all living beings should be judged with equal value. She sees law and order as necessary things, to be implemented wherever possible and protected with one's life. Vili Netrum welcomes only followers with the purest of intentions. Her missions involve keeping order and helping the weak.

ZYXAB ☆Deity of indistinct gender and race. Ruler of fetishes, well-kept secrets, and confidence. Mysterious demeanor. Collector of knowledge, arousal, and cute knickknacks.
bio ☆ Said to be born from all the world's most well-hidden thoughts, Zyxab is worshipped as a deity of true freedom. Its word does not actively promote chaos, unless chaos is what you truly seek, and its shadowy fingers wrap around and guide those who wish only to live for their own pleasure. Zyxab most values those who are confident in what they desire, no matter how dark the deed. While this deity is happy to be served by the purest of heart, those followers may not get along with the practitioners who would gladly hurt others to serve their own needs. Zyxab welcomes anyone, and is always interested in converting those of other faiths and moral stances. Its missions involve liberation, advancement of personal goals, and eradication of bonds that prevent people from living the life they wish to live.
